New Van Halen album already in the can for 2013?

Melodicrock.com reports that Van Halen may have recorded enough material for a second LP during the sessions for A Different Kind of Truth.

The rumour is that it may make a Spring release date ahead of the next leg of their tour.

Not holding my breath waiting for anything from VH whether a new album or resuming their tour.

When Eddie recovers from his surgery, it remains to be seen how he feels about everything and I expect an announcement when he is healthy that VH is retired as an active touring band. And because of his frail physical health I can understand if that is the way things end up.

Wasn't "A Different Kind of Truth" primarily made up of things they'd written 30 some years ago? If so then it makes you wonder how many demos they have sitting in the vault and/or if they can even write new songs. That is of course assuming they can actually bring it together enough to even release something period.

that's what i was thinking, big river and she's a woman were from the 76 demo

Half the album came from the 'Zero' demos. I would suggest that they didn't just go with the tracks that made the album, there will be some left over.

Most classic rock bands rework old demos for a new album. Not all of the material from A Different Kind of Truth was created from old demos anyway. Maybe about 7 out of the 13 tracks. I think that A Different Kind of Truth is a great comeback album for Van Halen. Eddie has stocked shelves full of old tapes and demos over at 5150 studios that I am excited to hear reworked and put into song production.
