It's not a bad list at all, I would move Eddie up a little on mine and I love how they put Both Maiden guitarists on the list.

I think Michael Schenker from UFO deserves to be somewhere on that top ten.

Its not that bad a list, plenty of those I agree with just not on Kirk Hammett, Hetfield would no doubt make my list as would the likes of Glenn Tipton or KK Downing but so would Dave Mustaine, Dave being one of the greatest shredders ever he wrote some of the greatest guitar licks. Dimebag, Tony Iommi would make mine too. Eddie Van Halen no as I see Van Halen as hard rock and not metal.

Dimebag was a fantastic guitar player. Ok not THE best of all time but for me he was one of the best in metal.
If this was perhaps a list of best guitarists in general I agree the list is shit but its covering metal. The only thing I was surprised about was the lack of KK Downing and Mustaine, two of the best metal guitarists.

OK admittedly my exposure to his stuff is rather limited since I don't care for that type of excess for the sake of excess. So maybe I shouldn't have said anything about him but my God they leave out Shenker, Uli Roth, etc and these are the guys that they pick?

People in the comments saying the list should have Angus Young in there. No way, Angus is not a metal guitar player.
Another one of those lists fun to debate over.

Agreed, I don't see Kirk as being top 10 to be frank.
