Soot and Stars
I AM SOOT!
Lianne La Havas
Coming off the heels of the awesome surprise of an actual Soul talent in Emili Sande comes another one even more unique. Lianne goes from edgy to quirky to deep sultry gorgeous Soul from one song to the next. While Emili is more of a vocalist and may just have the higher range I believe that Lianne has more artistic range. I've seen Emili play piano but Lianne seems to have her guitar always with her. She reminds me of a soulful Nellie McKay at times and in her most soulful range just bliss. Between style and musicianship this is one more notch on the new modern Soul movements belt! Here's the debut album:
Is Your Love Big Enough
Forget
(Funk meets Soul meets Alternative Rock)
Lost and Found
(Wow! Sad never sounded so sultry and sexy! Remiscent of Des'ree on "Missing You", just a beautiful tone and melody)
Age
(quirky vintage old soul style)
No Room For Doubt
(jazzy classy duet)
