Rancid Official Website

Rancid is an American punk rock band from Albany, California, formed in 1991. Founded by Matt Freeman and Tim Armstrong, both previously played in ska punk group Operation Ivy (see the thread for that as well. Great band.), they are credited with helping revive mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s.
Rancid is Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on drums.
They were formed by Armstrong, Freeman, and former drummer Brett Reed, who left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Steineckert. They had briefly performed live with Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day as their second guitar player, but he decided to stay with Green Day instead of becoming a full member of Rancid. "Radio" was written in the short time that Billie Joe was in the band and he was given co-writing credits. After Billie Joe decided to leave, Frederiksen filled the spot. Frederiksen joined Rancid in 1993.

Great punk band. Their recent albums have been disappointments to me, but that does not change the fact they are a legendary punk band. I have seen them live about 10 times. Each time they have delivered. Matt Freeman is with out question one of the most overlooked bassists because he is in a punk band.

Check them out and also Operation Ivy who I think are even better.

Re: Rancid

Great memories involving Rancid tunes... One of my friends used to have a leather jacket with a big Rancid thing on the back that he drew with paint pen things... it sounds dumb, but it looked really cool:heheh:

Red Hot Moon

Fall Back Down

I know, I know, two of the more commercially acceptable songs....
In this ridiculous video production class we had to do a music video... I decided to skip the assignment.... but I was involved with making a really cool video with Fall back Down... This reading teacher I had that year helped too, she was cool, I thought she was awful at the beginning of the year because she kept riding my ass about every little thing in her class, but I wore a Clash
t shirt and she saw this and we started talking about them, she saw them like 12 times or something...and on and on about music and life and my rebelliousness and refusal to learn, and all this time I thought she was being a bitch... she was trying to help:heheh:

anyways.. I like Indestructible from Rancid, not much else, but they're pretty cool I guess, I've never turned them off:D
