Hmmm, I listened to some songs but I find them kinda boring. And sometimes her voice sounds as if it's been fixed with the computer.
I remember when skaterboi was a hit... every teenager loved it and started to dress like her!

Re: "The Official" Avril Lavigne Thread

Thats cause shes a great artist, just admit you like her and get it over with, i love Avril Lavigne and I dont care who knows !

I like that song. I haven't really heard anything else from her I really care for though. :)

And Skater Boy was one of the most annoying songs back in my high school days. :bonk:

I just read that Avril is engaged to Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. :bonk: We live in a strange world.

As she got away from her "Skater image" her music started to change IMO..

That's because during the time Avril was sporting the skater image, she was 17 years old. A baby.

She's closing in on 30 now.

That's a huge time of change in a person's life, no matter what a person does for a living. Show me a person that hasn't grown in that time period, and I'll show you a person that still lives at home and has his mom make his bed and do his laundry.

She's grown, as a person, and as a musician.

But, because the casual listener only hears what's being played on the radio, she'll always be stuck with the skater image.

But that's cool. I know different. :)

I watched Chad Kroeger being interviewed recently (the band is touring here soon) and I kid you not, he came across as a really nice bloke - well spoken and with a sense of humour - just because the band is apparently hated by all and sundry doesn't detract from the fact he seems a nice guy .............. well, I thought so anyway

I read they only dated for six months before getting engaged. The whole thing just came out of nowhere!

Also, he wrote some music for her new album. Wonder how that will work out.

Here's the latest.

It's not straight blues, but it is the first time she leaned in that direction.

Also kind of a tip of the hat to the 60's girls. The Shangri-Las, Goldie and the Gingerbreads, The Feminine Complex, etc.

Very cool. I hope the whole album is played in that style. The last record's style really didn't work for me. It was like she was trying to sound like her classic material but falling short, and it just ended up sounding spoiled and superfluous.

Better for her to step out into a new arena she can conquer, than leave one leg in the past when she's obviously not the angry teen girl she used to be, and can't pretend to be that person anymore. Ironic for something called "Here's to Never Growing Up," but it sounds a lot more contented and mature than her past work. The lyrics are a little world-weary and they take personal responsibility.
