Whitney Houston, Superstar of Records, Films, Dies

Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.

I thought she was back on the road to health and happiness again...way too young to die.

Such a tragedy, she had it all and wasted her gift and her life...

It's very sad and I'm sure we'll hear it was drug related. She had a beautiful voice and I was pulling for her to recover from her troubles. RIP Whitney.

I saw a friend make a text post about this on Tumblr.

At the beginning of the new year, my morbid thoughts always make me wonder who will pass away. Low and behold we have the first shocking death of the year.

This is so sad yet I'm not surprised. I was really hoping that she would beat her demons but unfortunately they got the best of her. She had such a phenomenal voice. I really hope that she finds the peace and solitude in the afterlife. RIP Ms. Houston.
