Do you like good music,that sweet soul music oh yeah! oh yeah!This is a site about old music, and so not all is Heavy Metal,Surf, Rock etc.
Soul music was like blues gone EMO. Otis Redding and Booker T and the MG's Solomon Burke ( he wrote and did Proud Mary 1st) Carla Thomas and Rufus Thomas, Issac Hayes,Tina Turner,and Ike all famous and giants in their field it was a music that had an appeal too everyone. It was real American working class music and full of emotion that if you had a girlfriend w/ you at the time you would hear it you'd want to jump her bones.
It came from where else but the southern part of the US early 60's pioneers like Al "TnT" Braggs and Patti "No more tears" Jerome, Etta James, paved the way and then came James Brown, Ravon Star,Aretha Franklin, man what a line up.
Jimi Hendrix got his start on what was called the Chitlin' circuit playing RnB and some Soul too, and even the Who when they were the High Numbers played RnB for the Mods who would listen to nothing else but.
Then it crossed over to the white audiences and then you got the Righteous
Brothers and Tom Jones for a while did RnB.
Yeah the soul artists looked a wee bit Poofy w/ their haircuts and suits but the music kicked ass.So shout rama lama.
