Not the biggest Smiths fan, but "Meat is Murder" is another good album.

They've been one of those "one of these days I'm going to get into" bands. I've never really cared too much for Moz's solo material but people tell me how different they are from him.

^^Morrissey seems to have that effect on people, you either get him or not. I am no expert on his solo works, and only picked up 2 Smith's albums a couple of years ago when a friend recommended them as their best work. I admit to not playing them very often...no excuse except a lack of time.

The Smith's didn't cut very many albums (only three or four I think). Either you want every single one of their studio releases, or you just want a greatest hits. There isn't much in between with them.

Meat Is Murder is really good album, but I personally prefer their debut album called 'The Smiths'. It has some very catchy songs like This Charming Man and stuff. It's a great album from beginning to end.

The Smiths are so much better than solo Morrissey because of Johnny Marr's brilliant guitar work. His playing is kind of light and uplifting while Morrisey's lyrics are pessimistic but often funny. It's a great combination. I like the Smiths more for the guitar work than the vocals. Oh, and the whole band as a unit is great. Andy Rourke is an excellent bass player.
