This is band you probably will either love or hate but either way, I guarantee you have never heard anyone else quite like them. They take the line between pop and metal and blow it to smithereens.
Rock Sugar is a band that has produced something that is brand new but at the same time so familiar that you already know it by heart. There’s an intentionally silly back story given to the band (A heavy metal band is shipwrecked on an island for twenty years with only the pop collection of a little girl to listen to) but the real deal is that they take one, two, three (or four!) completely different songs from the ’80s and rearrange them as one. This is where their first album’s title Reimaginator comes into play.
It takes a lot of cajones and imagination to mash-up Journey with Metallica or Guns N' Roses with Til Tuesday, as examples. Personally I like them simply because what they are doing is fun and different and they pull it off brilliantly IMO, and with great musicianship. I'm curious to hear what you all think!
