A reference was made in regards to Freddie and the Village People...then came replies. I'll say it again. It's not the issue.

Drop it. Let's talk about songs, albums...shoot me some examples why one singer is better than the other.

Cool, even though I voted for Paul...I think Bohemian Rhapsody is a great example of highs and lows, light and shade.

Here's one that shows alot of vocal skill.

Now something for Paul??

One (out of hundreds) that IMO, has alot of emotion, depth and tone.

That song is horrible. It sounds like something from a bad musical....waaay off Broadway.

:heheh:

Too Rocky Horror Picture Showish for me. :D

I can agree with you on the broadway thing, it was my first exposure to both Queen and Mercury, so I naturally dove into more of their work. It's really fun to sing along to in a car ride though.

My friends and I were all in a car together going home from a concert of somebody here in Seattle, I forget the name. There was no music playing, but I started singing Bohemian Rhapsody, and the other two people I was with started to sing along. We sang through the entire song without the music playing. It was funny as hell :grinthumb

I own Rocky Horror Picture Show DVD and it sounds nothing like it at all.

:nw:

But it's however you want to percieve it.

I think Freddie would have coped very well with any song of McCartney, but Paul couldn't handle with much songs by the Queen repertoire. So, Mercury (with all my respect to Paul).2_sm5.gif

OK...this part of ''Bohemian Rhapsody''...

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico

This is talent? Sounds like a bad musical! :heheh:

sorry not for me...

and...

''He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity''

always reminded me of ''let's do the time warp again'' from Rocky Horror Picture Show...

:heheh:

another bad musical.

OK, to be honest, I swear, it's nothing that *great* or *special*.

Am I allowed to say he sounds very feminine in this song?

Seriously, if not, you delete my post.

I guess Freddie's vocals aren't for me. :D

:cheers2

Neither of them had that vocal range as David Byron or Ian Gillan, which I prefer.

Off subject, but I recently watched a Deep Purple concert from a few years ago at Montreaux and Ian Gillan's voice hasn't aged well at all. He doesn't have anywhere near the range or power he used to have. That's understandable, given his age, but he's noticeably the weakest link in their live show. The rest of the band is great.
