Vocal Ability: Paul McCartney vs. Freddie Mercury

I just got here and haven't had time to go through this whole thread yet...but PLEASE let's keep it down to the favorite "VOCALIST" here...none of this talk about being gay or straight.

It's not relevent to this poll and discussion. Not one bit.

Don't get too worked up about it- Queen fans always go to the gay issue whenever someone disagrees that Freddie Mercury isn't the best singer ever. I tend to ignore it.

Aren't you a person who quoted and laughed at a joke that was made because Mercury was gay? I think so. Seems you ignored that one.

I think Mercury had a lot of talent on the stage, and was a fantastic singer. Sexuality has nothing to do with it, so I don't even see why it should be used in an argument at all. It doesn't prove or disprove any points. Talent and showmanship are what make a vocalist, on top of many things that had to do with the MUSIC and THEM AS A MUSICIAN. There. I'm done. Forgive me MP, just giving my 2 cents.

^^ It's ok...you're stating it isn't an issue and I agree. It's not. Vocal skills only and why or why nots on that alone.

Song examples if you must.....but lifestyle choices are not part of this discussion and have absolutely no bearing over how one sings.

If this were a thread about the life of Freddie Mercury or any vocalist, I think talking about other aspects of their life would be acceptable, but when it's strictly talking about vocal ability (which is stated in the thread title), I think it's just pointless to bring other points up other than vocals. So no Groovy, I don't agree that it is unbelievable.
