Re: Miles Davis

I'm a big fan of Miles as well. Had the privilege of seeing him open up for B.B. King back in the 80's. Great performances from both!

My two favorite albums :

I see you are posting your favorites TH...:grinthumb

I like Miles Davis, and give him his due as a massively important figure in jazz, but as I stated earlier not a huge fan of this genre.

I do have "Bitches Brew",,,but that is all. :peek

Wow!!!

That must have been some show. I wish I could have seen Miles in concert. Just once.

What I'd give for that.

Those are two amazing albums. So ground breaking and brilliant.

And the talent that Miles surrounded himself with for those albums.

Genius all around.

I'll try not to get out of control posting my favorites :heheh:

If you like Bitches Brew, you may want to check out some
of the other Miles music from that period.

Re: Miles Davis

If you are a big fan, and don't see a thread go ahead and fill the Jazz section up, we have no problem with that.:grinthumb

Re: Miles Davis

I've been waiting for a Miles Davis thread but I have only gotten into him recently so I was hoping someone could fill the void and educate me. Dude if you want to make this the "Official" Miles Davis thread for years to come I can help you decorate the intro a little bit. Send me a favorite Miles pic of yours (preferably in the 500 size) and I'll edit it in. Any other info that you'd like to put in hindsight just PM me and let me know! :grinthumb

Right now since dipping my toe into Miles world this song has been my favorite that I've heard. Not sure if it really excites the typical Miles fan as it's more subtle in style but I think it's a beautiful piece:

Sounds good, I'll get that picture to you.

In A Silent Way definitely excites me. It's one of my all time favorites.

I love listening to it late at night.

It's spooky, mysterious, a collage of sounds.

The music is unlike any other Miles album.

And the list of musicians that play on the album is just crazy.

John McLaughlin, Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams, Chic Corea, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, Dave Holland.

World Class talent.

So if I like that song I would like the album as well you think. Just to give you perspective I only own this collection thus far but at three disc it's got a lot:
