I noticed they were missing in this forum. Any fans? Anybody heard of them at least?

They're Post Punk / Indie

When it comes to my favorite albums, it's definitely between Antics and Our Love To Admire. I don't really like the newer one (2010 one), it's alright but not the best.

I like all their songs but these seem to get people's attention the most:

I have this album Atrim3ntus which is where three off your picks come from:

I'd have to say I'm not in love with this band but they are good and they fit that genre where a lot of the bands I saw from your list and liked come from. I guess initially that's why I bought the album. The sound doesn't vary much IMO so I kind of think the album just came across as decent but tedious to me. It kind of was the same way with a similar band, She Wants Revenge. If you like Interpol though you might want to try them. They both have that dancy sound with a dark, brooding vocal! :grinthumb

That's kinda true about the sound not varying too much in Antics but you'd probably like Our Love To Admire better, maybe Turn On The Bright Lights.

I actually have both albums from She Wants Revenge. That's sort of how I sometimes start listening to new bands; if a band sounds even a little bit like Interpol (like you say, with that "dancy sound with a dark, brooding vocal") then that's enough for me to keep listening. I really like these guys, not just their music but their style too - the way they dress and present themselves.

Thanks for fixing the youtube links btw :)

That's cool man! knowing what you like even knowing the bands possible or perceived weaknesses makes for a true and well educated music fan! I think Interpols sound is just fine and I would actually be willing to try those albums out! :grinthumb

love them. IMHO, their best album is their first, Turn on your Bright Lights. At the time of its release it was really a true feeling of what was going on in Brooklyn and the lower east side of NYC. They get pciked on for being a Joy Division knockoff but I think they took that element and changed it to create a new sound.
Their first three albums are all great and the new one is good. Saw them twice recently including a few nights ago (see sig for picture) and really liked the new additions. Carlos, the bass player left the band so they added a new bass player David Pajo (formerly of Slint) and Brandon Curtis of the Secret Machines on keyboards and vocals for the tour. He adds a nice element to Interpol's overall sound.

Shock horror...even I own a copy of INTERPOLs debut "turn on the bright lights"....have to thank my son for that. Mind you I do like bands with "broody vocal style" [ its the goth in me ]. INTERPOL often get confused with EDITORS another fine band of similar style, both with as you say JOY DIVISION influences.
A band I highly regard , IKON from Australia have followed this style for many many years.....but have been put in the gothic/darkwave scene, Please, please check them out...they are great
INTERPOL are getting a bit of airplay on the radio stations here in the UK , good to see a thread on CRF for this band....

^ Fan of the editors too. Although I would say they sound more like Interpol, Elbow and Echo and the Bunyman.

Another shot from Friday

I checked em out... I've been listening to a few IKON songs and I like em, they're pretty cool. I Love the voice :grinthumb
I listen to the Editors as well. Other bands that I've found to be sort of similar are The Strokes, The National, Foals, The Cinematics and White Lies.

I went to see the show they did at RCMH, NYC on the 17th and it was incredible, the new additions performed better than I expected and I freaking loved the encore (The Lighthouse, The New Not Even Jail, Slow Hands). I had been crossing my fingers all night to hear The Lighthouse - it's such a great song that gives you imagery like no other, it's one of my top favorites!

I was hoping they'd play No I In Threesome, Wrecking Ball and Pace is the Trick but they only played like a couple from Our Love to Admire, which were The Heinrich Maneuver and Rest My Chemistry.

:cheers2 for checking out IKON , glad you like them.
This was the 1st INTERPOL track to grab my attention. It sounds like music inspired from the great but short 90s music era - "shoegaze ".Excellent stuff....:grinthumb
