I didn't see a thread for Caravan, so I thought I'd start one. :)

Discography:

1968 Caravan
1970 If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You
1971 In the Land of Grey and Pink
1972 Waterloo Lily
1973 For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night
1975 Cunning Stunts
1976 Blind Dog at St.
1977 Better by Far
1980 The Album
1982 Back to Front
1995 Battle of Hastings
2003 The Unauthorized Breakfast Item

I just recently discovered this Canterbury band that got together in 1968 and I can't get enough. To me their music sounds like jazz symphonies with long instrumental passages dominated by keyboards and synth. I think they are actually better live, but they are definitley a unique sounding band.

Re: Caravan

I've been a fan of their music for a few years now and I totally like their music. In The Land Of Grey & Pink and For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night are my fave albums.

Re: Caravan

I love them too, I have quite a few of their albums, I saw them play at the Isle Of Wight festival a few years ago and they were excellent, they did a long, short version of "Nine Feet Underground" from "In The Land Of Grey And Pink", classic:)

Re: Caravan

I'll join the Caravan...I have 4 of their albums, In The Land of Grey And Pink being the one I play the most. I agree Architect the Canterbury scene produced some of the most unique and creative music of the late 60's early 70's.

And Sweaty of Course you have seen them recently, I get the feeling these bands all check with you first to make sure you can make their gigs.:grinthumb

Re: Caravan

Like architect I've recently gotten into this band and was really impressed with In The Land of Grey And Pink. I've ordered Caravan's debut album along with the debut's of Soft Machine, Camel and Quiet Sun.

I guess you can say that I'm on a Canterbury kick.

Re: Caravan

I don't have any of Quiet Sun's work Hawk, let me know what you think of them when you get your album.

Camel I've got them surrounded, 9 albums I think in the library.

Re: Caravan

What do you think of Camel's debut LG ? I've read that Mirage, Music Inspired by The Snow Goose and Moonmadness are considered their best work.

I believe that Quiet Sun only made one album and their sound is said to be similiar to Soft Machine's. I'll give you my opinion of the disc after I listen to it.

I like the debut fine Hawk...Snow Goose is my favorite, and Mirage and Moonmadness are well thought of you really can't miss with any of them.
