Yeah I got it from Best Buy...I now own this and Crane Wife...will be getting all the rest. :grinthumb

Funny...Crane Wife is good but I like King Is Dead more...to me it's a more solid album IMO. Love It! Love Both! :cheers2

^^That made me smile MP, just like a little kid again...:D

I really enjoyed the new album, has a great feel to it but it's way too early for me to rate it yet.

I will simply add a heartfelt thank-you to an old friend recommending the Decemberists to me over 3+ years ago now, he was worried they were going to disappear but if anything I feel they are doing better now than ever before.

Re: "The Official" Decemberists Thread

New album sounded great live tonight and Sara Watkins (of Nickle Creek) is playing with them. Decemberists take another turn after two prog style albums they have gone into a folk rock style. Lead to a mellow set but a great version of all three parts of Crane Wife, excellent version of 16 Military wives, Red Right Ankle, Chimbly Sweep and The Mariner's Revenge Song.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I would love to see them and especially the part where they did the first three parts of The Crane Wife! Hey Aktivator, NickelCreek seems to get involved with great talent often as they even had a live collaboration with Fiona Apple. Odd because I figured they were just another Country group but apparently they have a wider range. Have you explored them at all? Are the a group to check out in your opinion?

I saw Fiona with NickelCreek and enjoyed Nicklcreek's set but really haven't listen to them much. I really should. Sara was good with the Decemberists but wasn't quite up to spped with them yet. It's only the second nite of the tour.

Oh o.k. cool! I love the melding of genres and when a Country group can meld with others and still play in the genre they love I have a big amount of respect for them! :grinthumb

Nice Pictures Ak...a cool trait of the band is it's laid back look...just some average people makin' music.

Good song here from the new album
