Also on the opposite side of that if I never heard Rush's "Spirit of the Radio" again I'll be ok with that.

.

actually it wouldnt bother me. i really dont hear much of any rush on the radio anymore around here. even Tom Sawyer. granted the only REAL classic rock station we have, or should i say HAD, has moved onto a mix of old and new, mostly newer. kinda sucks. but hell, i can always turn on the oldies or soft rock stations, and hear pink floyd

I avoid radio for precisely that reason :D

FWIW, I don't mind the Kings of Leon, but there's plenty of better bands around recently. They definitely have a modern feel though, don't really hark back to anyone which I respect.

Well the way I look at Kings of Leon they're just another one of those middle of those road, post grunge rock groups that people just latched. I mean, they're not really any better or worse than any other band in their field it's just people really got behind them in particular for whatever reason.

Well I don't know why but Rush seems like Cleveland's favorite rock band for some reason and they only ever play four songs by them (and one of them isn't even "Tom Sawyer", my guess would be because they think it's over played).

I heard about Kings Of Leon a few years ago and was excited to hear about a new southern band, but when I heard them I didn't care for them at all.I heard they had a Southern rock sound but they don't.

:wtf:

They certainly don't... I like them quite a bit actually, but they definitely aren't a southern rock band.. they might be a rock band from the south, but that is completely different:heheh:

I've really like the few songs that I've heard off of their new album, I definitely agree with the hits being over played though.. I do like them, and I can't wait to check this out in full:grinthumb

I completely agree with you about your point about modern day radio stations, they only play the big popular hits, and A-sides that everyone knows over and over again to the point where you can't stand the songs anymore...that's also why I hardly listen to my local Classic Rock station, I much rather prefer just shuffling my iTunes library of about 3000 songs, or listening to internet radio like Pandora of Last.fm...

As for the Kings of Leon, I never grew a liking for them. I don't really know why, but every time I listen to them, their songs sound the same to me and after a while they got kind of annoying to me...but that's just my opinion...

I kinda like the Kings of Leon. I haven't heard everything they've done, but everything I've heard, I have come to like it.

About that "Southern Style"? I believe that was in their first few albums and people are kinda pissed off because they stopped doing that. In their first records you can feel something differente about them. Something kinda southern, but a new southern thing and that's why they generated some hype. But now they've gone more commercial, which is good too. I mean, I would do the same f that makes me play some rock music in front of 50,000 people.

Well said! :cheers2 I'm a pretty moderate band of Kings of Leon. Same as I said about Audioslave tonight they are just a solid band. I've bought all their albums except the newest for now which is on my to buy soon list. I first heard them with their Southern style and I think with these tracks it's indisputable. I also think it's kind of a garage band sounding Southern style which is also unique. These are my two early favorites off the second c.d.:

Aha Shake Heartbreak

Four Kicks

The Bucket

My favorite c.d. is still going to be predictably:

Only By The Night

There are many purist who like the first two best but I don't care. I knew their sound already so I was no bandwagon listener. I don't see anything better than a solid rock band swing for the rafters and go big! They did an excellent job on the c.d. and the songs got airplay because they were ****ing good! :cheers2 My favorite song by them period is the opener for the album:

Closer

(it kind of reminded me of Gnarls Barkley :heheh:, great atmospheric song with great production)
