I wanna hear what you folks think about this band. particulary who they might remind you of, as far as influences, or likenesses to older bands. i enjoy their music, but cant really link them to an older band. wondering what you all think.

I fixed them for you Lola. You only copy what is after the = signs between the brackets.

I have listened to the Kings of Leon a few times, and I have one of their albums in MP3 format, but haven't had the time to really gauge how I feel about them. I know they were really a breath of fresh air when they hit the scene, and now some of the luster has faded according to some fans.

It's always ironic, a band comes along with a really good sound of their own, gather a fan base and then grow, and somewhere along the way as they get bigger and more successful some of their original fans think they are selling out. Whatever any band does in the ultra competitive music business to stay relevant and make music they like then that is fine with me, we all have bills to pay after all.

They toured here last year, and one of the band members was thinking of going into rehab,,,but I lost track of them after that.

I think that might be because "Use Somebody" was getting played 5 times an hour on every radio station across the world (or so it seemed) and people got burnt out on them...or that's at least how I feel about them.

Overexposure is one of the most lethal things that can happen to a band or artist's career as far as I'm concerned.

^^Good point Cosmic, but seein' I am living in my cave and don't play the radio or MTV I don't get burn out on any songs or bands anymore...:D I miss my renegade DJ's when I was your age, they were great for learning about new bands outside the mainstream, now forums have replaced them.

You have no idea how happy I am when I'm flipping through radio stations and I happen across a song that I didn't expect to here.

Also on the opposite side of that if I never heard Rush's "Spirit of the Radio" again I'll be ok with that.

I actually don't mind Nickelback because I take them for what they are. However they do get drilled painfully into people's heads quite painfully.

I avoid radio for precisely that reason :D

FWIW, I don't mind the Kings of Leon, but there's plenty of better bands around recently. They definitely have a modern feel though, don't really hark back to anyone which I respect.
