One of my favorite albums from one of my favorite bands
It starts off with an excellent southern rock anthem.. Very powerful and hard, not quite to the point you'd call it heavy, but as hard as it gets
Whisky Man, rock n roll with southern grind and grit..perfect, excellent opener
The second song, a cover, It's All Over Now, I'm not sure who did it originally, I just know the Stones' version and another cover of it by Social Distortion(Another excellent band), but MH's version is a solid cover, rock n roll pure and simple.. it's got some great rockin' piano in it.. Simple, enjoyable, cool, great guitar tone in this one especially, overall for this song, it's a good cover but not overly special, just pretty cool
Moving on, One Man's Pleasure.. This is an overlooked bit of greatness.. it starts off with an awesome bass line, then a great rock scream and some cool guitar, great song
Jukin' City, a Molly Hatchet favorite of mine.. very cool guitar and vocals, it grooves and it growls, awesome, awesome, awesome song.. Very energetic without using the speed of the song to give it energy
Next, Boogie No More.. cool tune, basic Hatchet sound, hard rock with some southern grit.. cool tune, nothing too terribly special.. until the pause, then turnaround.. it picks up and sounds awesome
The title track, Flirtin' With Disaster, ROCK 'N ROLL! Not anything more to say about this.
Good Rockin', This one sounds a little bit filler to me, It's a cool song and all, but I'm starting to get sick of this exact sound by now, the album needs something to keep me interested by this point
Gunsmoke saves the album for me, it has a little bit of a different sound, it's a bit more floaty than the other songs on the album, not as much grind and groove, more early rock n roll influence
The next song, Long Time, certainly takes the album in a different slower, more gritty ballad direction.. The guitar is very cool, this one is up there in quality with the first half of Green Grass and High Tides and Freebird, Long Time just isn't quite as long
The album ends on a great tune, one of my favorites from it.. Let The Good Times Roll.. Nope, not the same as Hendrix, not the same as the Cars and definitely not the same song as BB King.. This is a lighthearted tune from MH, but it has the floaty sound that Gunsmoke has, and it also has the grind and southern grit of the other tracks.. this is a great way to go out on this album..
Overall, an excellent album, it's not the most exciting album, but I getpumped up every time I listen to it.. 10/10
Solid rock n roll every time.
