Re: Iced Earth

IMO, one of the greatest bands ever!!! The debut is kind of lacking but Days of Purgatory makes up for that with the re-recorded tracks. All the rest are awesome expect for the "Ripper" stuff which I am not too fond of other then a few tracks.

GREAT BAND \m/ One of the best live albums EVER !

Re: Iced Earth

I had a freebie cd with 'Melancholy' as one of the tracks, and it was a stand out song for me.

skip-skip-Melancholy-skip-skip-Melancholy...etc.... :D
I must get the album in full. I really like this sound.

I didn't mind Ripper, but Matt Barlow is the quintessential voice of IE. I am glad they went back and redid their early recordings, definitely a big improvement over the originals.

I don't care for Ripper much. I don't really know why either. He has a decent enough voice and his ability is obvious but I just don't think he is in anyway a suitable replacement for Matt Barlow who is one of my top five vocalist ever.

Days of Purgatory is one of Iced Earth best IMO.

Re: Iced Earth

If I was forced to pick one to start w/ it would be Night of the Stormrider.
Though Burnt Offerings , Days of Purgatory and The Dark Saga are also top of the food chain ,IMO. Something Wicked This Way Comes, Horror Show and The Crucible of Man (Something Wicked Part 2) are also must have as far as I am concerned .

Alive In Athens is as I have already stated IMO one the very best live recording ever released. Honestly Framing Armageddon should also be in any Iced Earth fans collection. Basically everything they have done is awesome to my way of seeing things other then maybe The Glorious Burden and even it is good and has some great moments .

Having said all that Night of the Stormrider

Re: Iced Earth

Thanks DKW!
That makes things a lot easier on my end :heheh:
Is 'Horror Show' a good album?
I have a couple songs from that album

What do you say about the Remastered Night of the Stormrider?
As good? Better? Worse?
