Death was a death metal band founded in 1983. The band's founder, Chuck Schuldiner, is considered "a pioneering force in death metal and grindcore". The band ceased to exist after Schuldiner died of brain cancer in 2001, though remains an enduring heavy metal brand.

They are considered one of the most influential groups in death metal. Many have considered Schuldiner as the Father of Death Metal.
Death is without question one of the most influential and ground breaking metal bands.
Chuck Schuldiner IMO is also one of the best guitarist of alltime and is constanly overlooked.

Awesome thread man. So many great musicians have been in this band, it's crazy. Individual Thought Patterns, Human, and Leprosy are my favorite albums from them. Or at least those are the ones I listen to most. They're all amazing in their own right though.

Thank you sir. It is insane who was in this band. Some amazing talents have been in this band. Chuck was with out a doubt an amazing guitarist and a hell of a guy.

I have every album. You are right they are all amazing in their own right. You can hear the progression each album has.

I was listening to them back in '08 and my girl at the time heard the song and laughed saying how she loved this band and how any fan of death metal needs to have some respect for them.

My recent ex heard them was not a fan of the vocals but loved the musicianship and had major respect for Chuck and this band for creating death metal (she is a huge death metal fan weir seeing a girl like her listening to death metal) and was sad to hear Chuck died.

I have to be in a certain mood to listen to them, but I will always love em.

Re: Death

I just watched my DEATH Live in LA DVD a few days ago. I saw them at the Ventura Theater the very next night of the taping ( Hammerfall opened ) and ended up meeting Chuck. Sadly that was their last tour.

Just glad I was able to see them before Chuck departed this world and the DVD, though not great sound or picture quality, is a great keep sake of that night for me.

Re: Death

The Symbolic album is the first Death album I just picked up. I had heard Scream Bloody Gore previously but Symbolic sounds brutally awesome. Cannot believe more discussion of this band has not been had. One of the major pioneers of death metal.
