The Most Creative Band?

What makes a band creative you ask? Well to me, it means that they were able to make something no other band can be compared to. Also they inspired other groups to go out and do their own thing. The true great creative bands have had an incredible impact on others, musicians or not. So which band do you think has so much creativity In terms of Songs, Appearance, Band Logos, Band Name, Instruments, Concerts, Music Videos ECT...?

This is easily The Smashing Pumpkins for me! These guys have fearlessly delved into so many styles in a short career span and did what they felt was right as artists even at the risk of "fan" backlash! I say fan in quotes because true fans got that the group was something that couldn't be contained under the whatever works we'll ride with it banner. Every single album they put out set itself apart from the previous album. They were a mixture of every genre out their besides Hip Hop and Country (unless you relate Country to Folk)! They were parts Rock, parts Metal, parts Progressive, parts Electronica and a fusion of so much more. Even their B-Sides were much better quality and more creative than most bands album tracks. The lyrics were poetic and full of imagery. Everything right down to the title of the song was thought out in such high detail. Billy really wrote at a confessional level and in a way that fans could connect to that almost no band had done before and many have tried to since. They maybe the most influential 90's group on the 2,000's artist today. Right down to the imagery in every album, the visual styles of dress that changed with each album and being the best video band ever these guys in every way rule this category IMO! They are the true total package as far as bands go especially from the 90's on!

Billy had a unique vocal but it still had range. He had the amazing ability to go from a sweet and soft vocal to a snarling demon like vocal in the next song! He definitely wasn't one note vocally! The fact that they were able to incorporate such a different vocal to fit their music only backs up what I said even more!

I do love the Pumpkins but I find that Corgans vocals all tend to be in the same vain, it is distinctive = but at the same time I find it sought of limitting

Ok I'm going to through in a few points for Radiohead. To begin with the complex musicality. They make regular use of complex time signatures and rhythmic features that you don't find from most other bands. But if it jsut comes down to that there are pleanty of prog bands who do similair things.

What the prog bands don't do is reinvent themselves on nearly every album. Raidohead began as a mid range rock band with a grunge infusion (pablo honey), there sound was not unsimilair to the indie bands of now. On the next album (the bends) they turned themselves into a propper rock band. On Ok Computer they developped a softer and darker side with huge variations in sound. Kid A was labelled as comercial suicide, it was electronic disenant and called "the opposite to easy listenning". But it over came the fact there was no singles released and was named Rolling Stones greatest album of the naughties. Amnesiac brought and ambient jazz element to their sound whihc is nearly unheard of in rock music. A glitch pop sound characterized the next album (Hail to the theif) and a more chillout sound for In Rainbows.

They have also implimented initiatives that had never before been used successfully. The advertising for Kid A was done almost entirely online and In Rainbows was released for however much the buyer wanted to pay, what they thought the album was worth.
