Blues Traveler is a New Jersey based band originally consisting of singer/harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, bassist Bobby Sheehan, and drummer Brendan Hill. Blues Traveler has delivered some of the greatest harmonica jams since they first released their debut album in 1990. Unfortunately, bassist Bobby Sheehan died of a drug overdose in 1999 and was replaced by Tad Kinchla, younger brother of Chan. In 1999, the band also decided they needed a keyboardist and ran an advertisement in Keyboard Magazine, and ended up hiring Ben Wilson from the add.

Re: Blues Traveler

Yeah....love The Blues Traveler!

Actually, I have a bad habit of calling them Blues Travelers....with an ''s'' at the end...
:heheh:

Anyway...I've seen them three times in concert, and one of the times was in Central Park back in the 90's, which was a blast....

Blues Travelers were tight....they could jam. John Popper is one of the best harmonica players ever and bass player, Bobby Sheehan was out of this world on bass - may he rest in peace...

My favorite Blues Traveler albums are....

Blues Traveler (1990)
Four (1994)
Straight On till Morning (1997)

Re: Blues Traveler

I have had Four since it came out and I like it but surprisingly I never followed it up with any other Blues Travelers c.d.s! I may have to right that! The following is definitely my favorite Blues Traveler song!

The Mountains Win Again

Re: Blues Traveler

"Four" is the most accessible album. If you enjoy Four, you should dig a bit deeper into their music, there are some gems to be found :grinthumb

My first experience with them was from the movie "KingPin".....from there I obtained all their CD's. I love the harmonica jams!!

Their second release:

Re: Blues Traveler

I think Blues Traveler falls off most rock observers' radar because they're out of phase with the times. Here they started up in 1990 but they're not grunge, alternative, indie, hiphop, or whatever the flavour de jouer happens to be - which in my book is a major plus. It took me a while to warm up to the band though because of the obnoxious picture of a cat of all things on the cover of their first album. I mean what's with that?

Re: Blues Traveler

It's just an album cover! You obviously aren't to warm to Blues Traveler, that is NOT their first album. Mybe you need to get out more and explore :D
