ComfortablyNumb
Unquestionable Presence
Slayer is heavy metal band from Huntington Park, California that formed in 1981. The band was founded by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King and are credited as one of the "Big Four" of thrash metal acts, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.
Slayer's music involve fast tremolo picking, atonal guitar solos, double bass drumming, and vocals that are shouted. The band's lyrics and album art, cover topics such as serial killers, satanism, religion and warfare have generated album bans, delays, lawsuits and strong criticism from religious groups and the public.
They have received four Grammy nominations which had them win one in 2007 for the song "Eyes of the Insane", and one in 2008 for the song "Final Six". They are also considered the heaviest band of all time. Reign in Blood has been an influence to extreme metal and thrash metal bands since its release. The album has been hailed as the "heaviest album of all time."
The first metal I got to see live was Slayer. They scared the hell out of me and are probably one of the most intense live bands you can still see.
They are the reigning kings of thrash metal.
