Neil's a guy with a massive career. Which discs are your favorites?

For me it'd look something like this...

1. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
2. Tonight's The Night
3. On The Beach
4. Harvest
5. Weld
6. Sleeps With Angels
7. Time Fades Away
8. After the Gold Rush
9. Rust Never Sleeps
10. American Stars N Bars

and if I were to go on...

11. Broken Arrow
12. Year of the Horse
13. Ragged Glory
14. Landing On Water
15. Live at Cantebury House

But I could go on forever. Out of 40 or so albums I only think he's done a handful of less-than-decent ones.

My Top 10 Favorite Neil Young Studio albums...

in order of when they were released....

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
After the Gold Rush
Harvest
Time Fades Away
Tonight's the Night
Rust Never Sleeps
Hawks & Doves
Old Ways
Ragged Glory
Chrome Dreams II

Favorite live album would be, the great ''Live Rust'' followed by ''Live at the Fillmore East'', ''Live At Canterbury House 1968'', ''Weld'' and ''Year Of The Horse''

Actually, ''Live Rust'' would be somewhere in my top ten, but I wanted to squeeze in as many studio albums I possibly could, since Neil Young has such a large catalogue of great albums.

Honorable mentions :
On the Beach
Zuma
American Stars 'N Bars
Comes a Time
Chrome Dreams

But I could go on forever. Out of 40 or so albums I only think he's done a handful of less-than-decent ones.

At this time I'd probally say/list something like this:

1. "RAGGED GLORY." (1990)

2. "ON THE BEACH." (1974)

3. "TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT." (1975)

4. "ZUMA." (1975)

5. "AFTER THE GOLDRUSH." (1970)

6. "COMES A TIME." (1978)

7. "SLEEPS WITH ANGELS." (1994)

8. "HARVEST MOON." (1992)

9. "EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE." (1969)

10. "HARVEST." (1972)

As the song on "Sleeps With Angels" is titled, any time it's possible to "Change Your Mind"...lol.:D Though the order might occasionally change, my "Top 4" will most likely ALWAYS be my "Top 4." Period!

I'd recommend my "Top 4" as "must haves" but to each his own. You can't go wrong either way. The only "wrong" thing would be to not purchase anymore of his albums.

^^If I was a massive fan of Neil's I would dig more deeply into his extensive discography, but I'm happy with what I have.

I used to own Rust Never Sleeps and Live Rust on vinyl but didn't replace them with CD's.
