I love Clapton's work on the Blind Faith album. The whole thing is brilliant.

Billy Joel knows.
I think all his music would sound better using A Les Paul. The Strat is too tinny and whiney for rock and blues. Listen to Floating Bridge if you wanna hear EC doing some heavy duty blues.

As already said, Clapton is greatest white blues musician. His best work in my opinion was definately while he was in Cream, but Blind faith was good too, nice combination with Winwood, great album.

I have to disagree.. I love most of the strat tones.. mostly his clean tones.. they are ballsy and full, still twangy and jangly.. I love it:D

I think he was best with Cream, White Room is such an incredible song. I also like Forever man, he has always had great music, I just saw him at MSJ with Jeff Beck... amazing

I always thought he invented his own style of blues. He wasnt trying to immitate the American blues like most of the early UK blues guitarists

Try listening to Paul Kossoff playing with Free. His Les Paul will blow your doors off! His style was minimal, yet powerfully adept.
Then try Duane Allman's work, also LP and what thick licks he made.
Last but not least, Steve Miller. His name says it all.

I do like les pauls more than strats' tones, LP's with p90 pickups are responsible for my favorite tones ever recorded, then teles, but Strats are a pleasant sound that I do like..:D
