Re: Anyone Mention Canned heat?

Let me bring the youngsters and all those who've had sheltered middle class upbringings up to speed on how this band got its name:

Just keeping it real.

When I saw this thread, I went to look for meaning of the name because I always wondered how did they got their name and I found the same article you posted :D

Can't tell you how envy I am, Thumper :D
Does anyone else thinks ZZ Top's La Grange is rip-off from Fried Hockey Boogie?

Never thought about it but the beginning sure does sound the same. I doubt if it was intentional though.

Re: Anyone Mention Canned heat?

I saw Canned Heat in 1972(?) in concert at the auditorium of the university I was attending. The crowd did not consist of dedicated hard core blues fans though and Canned Heat became frustrated with the lack of response after a few numbers. They shifted gears and played "Wooly Bully" to which the crowd responded enthusiastically but before the end of the show Bob "The Bear" or one of the other fellows ended up lecturing the crowd about having come to the concert if they weren't into the blues.

The problem though was that Canned Heat'***** singles, "On the Road Again", "Going Up the Country" and "Let's Work Together" were not really representative of the band's style of music.

Yay! It's from their self-titled album, one of my favorite blues albums of all time. That track, among with Catfish Blues, Bullfrog Blues, Dust My Broom and Goin' Down Slow are the best tracks on that album.
