I don't know recgord27 I just remember hearing the Jig a Jig single being played on BBC radio one back then a long with the other top 30 UK singles that radio one played this was around 1970-71

I do indeed recall Titanic half brit/Norway outfit... with a John Kongas vibe going on.

Sultana was a homage to Santana...

Ha ha I didn't know the band was a 'joke' Santana band Ian mind you I was only about 13 or 14 years old at the time and just heard songs like this played on BBC radio one back in 1970-71

This is the only 1970 album I have by them... total banger... it's the real dope!
These Brothers hailed from Cape Town.

McCully Workshop - Why Can't It Rain?

McCully's Worksop had a hit in the late 70's with The Bucaneer. They bought out a few albums that I can remember but it's only the first titled "McCully's Workshop Inc" that's collectable and is quite valuable. I only have their best of compilation on cd.

That first album has a real sense about it.. I don't think with all the science today you can replicate that. All those big stars of the 1960s and 1970s were all born in the 1940s and the war and explosion of blues and rock 'n' roll in there childhood and teens must have added layers of living and experiences that transferred to what now is Classic Rock (?)

One of my favorite 'forgotten bands' was Little Feat,,,,who were one of Jimmy Pages favourites btw.
KInd of an alternate version of the Allman Bros with Lowell George on guitar.

This band had it all. The musicianship is always out this world, especially the Lowell George albums. Their album
Waiting For Columbus" is one of the best 70's live albums. A band worth collecting, I have most of their albums.

Tower of Power gave them the horns backing on the Feats Don't Fail Me Now tour. Great stuff.

 

[Magic]

Nuts from Liverpool. They didn’t fair too well even after touring with Budgie & Black Sabbath. They changed their name to Rage in the 80’s, made 3 albums, then called it quits in 1984.

I find them to be a lost gem.

please don’t shoot me, but this album has a R&B vibe. It’s the vocalist….more than the music. His voice is just very early Chicago steppin‘ & shuffle.
