| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer I never saw ELP , but their debut album is excellent and remains one of my favorite Prog/rock albums of all time. I know some people accuse them of excess and overindulgence musically, but that is what I love about prog in general,,,taking chances stretching the boundaries, some epic failures of course, but some timeless classic albums to enjoy as well. |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer ELP is on my top 5 list of great prog bands. I dont care for much after 1978, Brain Salad Surgery was the last album worth while to me.
I would recommend the Debut and Tarkus to anyone. Emmerson is a fantastic keyboardist, he rivals Wakeman. |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer I think the most disappointing "Serious" recording ELP did was Pictures at an Exhibition, the orchestral version is Light Years better. Love Beach would be the worst album they ever released. |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer If there is one suite of music that I think exemplifies Emerson, lake and palmer ,it is Tarkus. The form and structure of it is akin to classical music. This is here where the band displayed they were a legitimate band , not a showcase for soloing.
However, the best version would be off the live `74 Welcome Back my friends.. Aquatarkus is awesome and a mindblower! |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer Definitely a mind blower, Stout !! Aquatarkus live from Welcome Back My Friends
I have to be in a certain mind set to listen to this stuff, though. I can listen to this when I am in a really funky, quiet mood and just want to sit alone and not be pestered. |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer Don't mind me a bit of ELP, starting to get into them now. Karn Evil 9 is already a favourite!

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer Nice to see some fans of ELP show up. I like the debut the best, but Tarkus, Brain Salad Surgery and Trilogy are essential to any fans library. I even enjoyed their live album recorded in Montreal's Olympic stadium with full orchestra. |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer Fantastic band all being well I should be seeing them this summer at the High Voltage gig. My mate played me the Keith Emerson Band cd and I have to say it is really, really good. |

| Re: ELP : Emerson, Lake, & Palmer wow how did I miss this thread. Their first five albums are all masterpieces. Favorite is Tarkus and Trilogy. I saw them in Feb 78 with a full orchestra which I loved but this was the full blown ELP downfall too many. A few weeks later I saw the Ramones and wore an ELP tour tee-shirt I thought I was going to get beat up. I saw Emerson a few years ago and he still puts on a great show esp. when he steps away from the keyboards and plays on the grand piano. I'm seeing Emerson & Lake acoustic in April.
Emerson at NEARfest 06
