One of my favroite bands of all time is RATM. They did rap/rock (numetal) whatever u wanna call it, far and beyond better than anyone else. I know LG doesn't like the vocal style of Zach de la Roacha, but without him is isn't RATM is is Audioslave. Tom Morrello one of the most innovative guitarists since Jimi Hendrix as far as his ability to bring new and refreshing sounds from the electric guitar. Also Morello is one of the best riff creators. Many people overlook the great riffs in songs like "Wake Up" "Killing In The Name Of". "Bulls On Parade", "Sleep Now In Fire", "Calm Like A Bomb" and many more. He also showcased his acoustic skills in his band " The Night Watchmen" Brad Wilk is an underrated drummer. One sets them apart from all the other numetal bands is their strong in your face political content. As a youth and as an adult RATM is still the best band to listen to when u want to take your frustrations out on Uncle Sam. RATM easily is one of the top 5 bands of the nineties.
eh, if a band wants to be political I don't mind, I just don't pay much attention, but I used them to get pumped for whatever I needed to get pumped for lol, but very hard hitting and cool, I haven't listened to them much lately, but basically I like how heavy and energetic they are with just playing rock n roll, not metal or whatever, and no screaming good good band
I merged your thread/vid with the current RATM thread! If you want to do an OP for a band that solely includes a vid Archon try start a RATM video thread in our video section!

I love how Rage Against The Machine managed to get the #1 single of the Christmas week in the UK this past year with "Killing in The Name". Who would've thunk that people would be able to come together and push a song that uses the F word a couple dozen times all the way to the top of the singles charts, and in the heart of the Christmas season of all times.
I like some of their stuff and have their first album. My favourites are 'Killing in the Name' and 'Bullet in the Head'.

Yeah that was great It was a stand against Simon Cowell's X-Factor (tv singing talent show, for those that don't know it) having the monopoly on the Christmas number ones for the past few years - always with some drivel or other. It seemed year in year out we were forever to be inflicted with mechanical schmaltzy pap for our Xmas number ones, last year changed that and hopefully it will be done again this year!
Btw, RATM donated the profits made from their Christmas no.1 to UK charity Shelter, the cheque was handed over during the free gig they did in London in June to celebrate the success of the campaign.
Before Rage Against The Machine's upset wasn't the last song to get the Christmas #1 single that wasn't courtesy of Mr. Cowell's hit factory Gary Jules' cover of "Mad World" way back in 2003?
Seriously? Garry Jules' Mad World is bloody excellent!
In any case I absolutely adore RATM's debut album. It would rank among my favorite albums from the 90s, most likely. But the rest of their material failed to really move me.
