|  Most Overrated Bands of the 1980's!
Your nominees please! 
I'll start, Van Halen. Even Van Halen fans typically save their biggest kudos for the band's debut album, which was in the seventies! Unfortunately, this detail didn't stop Van Halen from continuing on in the same vein and stumbling through the eighties from one drunken excess to the next.

Jefferson Airplane, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Frank Zappa, Janis Joplin, Crosby Stills & Nash.
A good start.
Although with most of these polls you can easily switch the terms "Most overrated band" with "bands most people seem to really like but I can't stand".  | |

Oooops! I guess I was so eager to slag those 4 that I wasn't paying attention.
80s is a lot easier...PRINCE. Possibly the most overrated performer of all time.
Depeche Mode is on the list, but I can't think of anyone else at the moment. | |

Flower! I think 80's the second those come up! How can they be overrated when they ingrained an image into peoples heads of an era! I don't think anyone defends them as Gods or anything but just iconic of a time!

While not one hit wonders, they were "flashes in the pan" so to speak ... and in my opinion (I'll have to wait to hear what Lynch has to say) neither band lived up to their hype.

Flower, I agree on the assessment that they were fads but definitely fads that represent the 80's cheese which cheese whether or not we like it was a huge part of the 80's. I don't think anyone rates them higher than 80's cheese which I think due to a low status as that that they can't be overrated if they aren't held to that high of esteem in the first place! | |
