| Re: Worse Drummer In A 70s Rock Band I know it's after the 70's, but Tommy Lee is terrible. In the seventies most punks could barely play their instruments so take your pick. |

| Re: Worse Drummer In A 70s Rock Band This is a difficult subject because most drummers "in the business" at all are capable of keeping a beat and even basic drum fills.
Any drummer who was on a 70's record and tour was basically capable of playing their set well.
Instead, I'll mention a drummer who kinda blew his chance at the big time but who was a capable drummer, and that is Bob Burns from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
He quit just as the band was starting to get big, and Artimus Pyle, a very good drummer from Kentucky took his place, around 1974.
Of course, Bob Burns missed his chance at being in the plane crash too, so maybe it wasn't that bad of a choice.
Right, Bob? |

The average 70's rock drummer could play a heckuva lot better than most of the guys today. |

| Re: Worse Drummer In A 70s Rock Band Dude, did you even read what I said? PUNK dummers were awful in the main. Most 70's ROCK drummers took drumming onto a higher level. |

I take it you don't drum (I did for 14 years, and Sabbath on headphones taught me, I was self-taught and took up snare to read music)?
Angus Mortimer takes the cake. Bill Ward was a VERY technical drummer, with a SOLID foundation of the rudiments. You need to RE-LISTEN to Sabbath and maybe EDIT that.

| Re: Worse Drummer Although his output is passable, if unspectacular, Don Henley is the stiffest most uncomfortable looking drummer I can think of. I was watching the Hell Freezes Over DVD the other night and it looks as if it's his first time behind a kit. |

Agree, but there ARE Worse is all. DEFINATELY, "Honorable Mention" material.
