This thread is amazing, I have been introduced to some very good bands that I have never heard of and some of them I have not really listened to much of them. The thread has been written with some real attention to detail and it is clear that the people concerned really like their music.

When LG, SOX and me do the heist I will be purchasing some of these albums.

What a great thread and very interesting, thanks guys.

I just wanted to add a couple more of tracks from Dust's two albums as I only posted one song at the beginning of this thread. IMO, one of the premiere proto-metal bands.

Thanx for the acknowledgement. Had a great time listing and introducing these bands to listeners who haven't heard any of these artists. More will follow. Waiting for Wolf to get back in the game. I also needed a break.

This UK band has only one album credited to them recorded in 1973 it bares their moniker .The first side is a rocking little proto -gem sometimes almost epic-doom in style but also venturing into a Zeppelin style heavy blues reminiscent of "Since I been Loving You " on the song 24 hours and very good it is to these ears .The other side is a poorly recorded live recording of a completely different band called Anaconda .An Acid Jazz - Prog band with a crappy vocalist at that with only one thing in common with the first band and that is the drummer . Under the influence of acid it might sound a bit better but I wont waste your time with any of that here. So strictly sticking to side one ...

Glad to see you guys enjoying this thread

@ Joe ,I have a lot of bands left to share and some very good ones at that but I want to slow it down as already stated . I have had two official request to ease up the pace as some people are feeling a bit overwhelmed trying to keep up .

The Only Truth by Morly Grey from Ohio released this groovy garagy/heavy psych Lp in 1972. Fantastic lead guitar work. Reissued from the Italian independant label Akarma who has done a great job over the years to bring out some of these rare artists and albums.

Power Trio formed in 1969, Austin Texas ( which by the way is a hellva a fun place to visit .Great music scene ) with a 16 year old Eric Johnson on lead guitar .They released one album in 1970 entitled Perpetuum Mobile and have n awesome compilation released entitled Mariani. 1988 . Both are highly recommend .The guitar playing is highly devolved the fluidity is amazing for someone so young .They sometimes remind me of early Robin Trower while the guitar playing can also recall Tony Iommi at various other times .

MARIANI :

Another band that formed in Texas, McAllen rather then Austin this time, in 1970 . Self Expression On Musically Potential Instruments were generally refereed to as Texas' Black Sabbath which isn't completely off base if you added the fact that they were also heavily influenced by the progressive rock of the day and unusually large doses of LSD and other assorted Psychotropics .They have two releases Summer's Comin' on Heavy ,their one and only official offering , and AWOL which is a
Compilation which includes their album plus unreleased material that did not appear on the debut. Unfortunately most of my favorites are not uploaded at youtube but the first 2 videos should give a relatively good idea about what most of the CD sounds like.

Hailing from the land down under where dingo's ate me baby and Kangaroos boxed me ears off comes this early 70's hard hitter that incorporates hard and heavy blues rock with a bit of a proto-punk and proto-metal 'tude .Lobby Loyde's lead guitar playing skills are far too developed to be real punk ( thus the proto-metal tag ) they do however have that almost punk thing going on in the same way that early Bon Scott era AC/DC did .
Really cool band that released three studio albums between 1973 - 1976.

Heavy prog/krautrock, Wind's first Lp, Seasons is laden with some of the heaviest hammond organ onslaught I've heard. The first two tracks here are crushing heavy. "Red Morningbird" is more of a spacey-atmospheric piece with heavy passages throughout. The second release is basically unlistenable. Fans of Uriah Heep should enjoy this.

Formed in Oslo, Norway in 1970. A heavy prog band influenced by Black Sabbath and early East of Eden with a bit of Jethro Tull thrown in for good measures their debut " Underground and Beyond" although not released until 1996 contains material from 1970 - 1972 .They continue to record and could be misconstrued as a "retro" band had they not been a part of this music scene in it's beginning stages.

^^^ Ya, Wind could of been in our prog. thread also. Speaking of "that's so funny", yesterday I was thinking Wolf is going to list Lucifer Was soon in this thread. I leave all the diabolica, wicked, and the undivine to you, my evil friend.
BTW, I thought you were slowing down on these threads. You decieved me, great minds think alike.
