ahh yes, Budgie. I live in San Antonio, and we had a local DJ named Joe Anthony, and he played Budgie every single day. he was a DJ from the early 70's till his death in the 90's. Budgie still play here once in a while. thanks to Joe Anthony, they are an S.A. fave
I love Budgie, seen them in UK a few time in the last few years, been picking their CD's up from various festivals and their home page. There has not been any news recently on their web page, I did contact them about 6 months ago and one of their colleagues sadi they were looking at re leasing the rest of their CD's but nothing has happened as of yet. Great band with loads of potential, their last LP was very good, however did not recapyure previous success.
You can still catch them in the UK, however they have been spending some time in Australia so you may have to wait.
BUDGIE...superb band . 1st track i heard was" breakin all the house rules".. and after that i was hooked and went looking for their albums. BUDGIE were great live..[Ive even seen old guitarist TONY BOURGE s spin off band TREDEGAR...but never heard of any releases they did.] As my mate Sweaty says BUDGIE are still rockin!!
Yep great stuff Lou I've got "In For The Kill" on vinyl I always liked Crash Course In Brain Surgery, and I liked Breadfan off of "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend."
I absolutely love Budgie and have been listening to them since I was a teen.
My Uncle had the first 4 on vinyl so I have to give him credit for turning me on to them. Their early stuff is my favorite and is like a cross between Sabbath,
early Rush and Welsh folk music IMO.
I now have all the official full lengths on CD expect Deliver Us From Evil
which I don't care for.
Nice to see them get some much deserved recognition.
It is hard to get all their stuff at the moment, I started to buy them from the web site but they have not re-released any for a while. This track is a real treat........
Yeah, had a look at that, these are new remasters from the band themselves and when you put the spines together they make up a Budgie album cover rather like the Free, QUO and Sweet CD's but thanks anyway, I will check the Budgie home page again.
