Blondie's fourth album was "Eat to the Beat" and was released in October 1979.
Eat to the Beat - October 1979
U.S. #17, U.K. #1, Australia #19
The first single from the album was "Dreaming" which contained the timeless lyrics "When I met you in the restaurant, you could tell I was no debutante". It got to #2 in the U.K. and #4 in Canada, but only #27 in the States and #53 in Australia:
"Union City Blue" was then released in the U.K. and got to #13:
Meanwhile "The Hardest Part" was released on the western side of the Atlantic but reached only #84 in the U.S. and #86 in Canada:
"Slow Motion" was originally planned as the next single release from the album:
Plans for the "Slow Motion" single were, however, shelved by the success of the single "Call Me" which had been produced by Italian Giorgio Moroder. It was taken from the movie "American Gigolo" but appeared on no album until later compilations. It smash hit big time reaching #1 in the States, U.K. and Canada and #2 in Australia. "Call Me" ended up as Billboard magazine's #1 selling single for 1980 and was nominated for a Grammy:
The final single from "Eat to the Beat" was "Atomic", one of my very favourites by Blondie. It reached #1 in the United Kingdom, but surprisingly peaked at only #39 in the United States, #57 in Canada and #12 in Australia!
I have two of Blondie's albums, Parallel Lines and a Greatest Hits compilation. Not the biggest fan but I do play their CD's once in a while.
Funny trivial note about Deborah Harry, she dyed her hair blond for so many years it all fell out eventually... She was in luck though once she let it grow out in it's natural brunette color it all came back. I wonder how many other fake blonds are going to have that happen....? For the record I like brunettes more myself.
Well lol...I think it serves people who are 'wannabe's right ..
I'm a natural blonde and alot of people have asked me who does my hair..Mom and Dad lol..(well bit of highlight in there now lol) but
It's a pisser to me how many FAMOUS blondes aren't even real ...
That being said I love BLONDIE..my favorite female rock voice
Eat To The Beat is a great album !

Yes, I'm not a huge fan of this song to be honest. But this was a great mix !
