I'm a HUGE Who fanatic....but Moon to me was very sloppy and not all there. (Had alot of band admitted off gigs too) Even Pete Townshend had said that Moon probably wouldn't have made it in any other band but he fit the Who. I agree with this and that's what makes him special.
However...Bonham could have played with anyone and that band would have kicked ass.  | |

Bonham was good, but I do remember him saying something about Moon being the greatest drummer. I forget where I read, but I do remember it since it was kind of cool to see Bonham talk about another great drummer.
Moon The Loon for me.
His drumming is really better then anyone can really grasp. | |

For the record, let me say that The Who would not be the same without Moon.
I'm just saying in another setting or in today's day and age if there was a drummer audtion with about 30 drummers in the room, Moon might not be first choice.
The Who had something more lunatic in mind from the get go. | |

Abstinence!  Both are fantastic drummers, imo! Each has their own styles, talents and skills. Although Keith Moon may well have been somewhat erratic or moody at times, when he was on, he was amazing! John Bonham was extremely talented, and also very impressionable with his abilities, imo! I was greatly impressed with both his drumming on the first LZ album, as well as with many of the other albums!  | |
