| Re: Alice Cooper vs. Ozzy Osbourne This one is tough, umm.... hmm... I'm not that much of a sabbath fan, and some of the early Alice Cooper stuff I didn't like either....and same goes for some of the later stuff, I'll go with Alice Cooper because the number of albums I like is greater, but I don't like them with the intensity as that first solo Ozzy album, well up till Bark At The Moon, after that I don't listen to any Ozzy, umm... jeese, actually I'm passing on this one, this is tough Cosmic |

| Re: Alice Cooper vs. Ozzy Osbourne Just a fun little fact: These two were once upon a time my favorite artists, and oddly enough I was never drawn to them for their taboo lyrics or imagery. It was solely about the music. Ozzy has over time dropped out of such high rankings with me due mostly to his work with Zakk post "No More Tears" being rather unimpressive to me. His work with Randy though is still among my favorite of all time. Though since Alice is a top artist for me he gets my vote. |

I don't mind Zakk really. I just feel like for "No Rest For The Wicked" it was an exciting new sound and he expanded on it on "No More Tears" but pretty much everything after that?......eh.....he became a more shallow guitarist. The majority of his playing sounds the same on Ozzy's last three albums and he abuses harmonics WAY too much. |

Pinch harmonics are about the only thing the man can do.... From what I've read and heard he's very full of himself as well... I really don't have a lot of respect for him, with most guitarists yo ucan see progression through their career, but with Wylde he got to one point and leveled out, he hasn't gotten any better since he joined Ozzy or that other band he was with.. it wasn't Lamb Of God was it? I think he was with someone else at one point |

Yeah that is all Zakk can do....I don't really like his style honestly. His first two albums with Ozzy he did an great job that made me really want to listen to his work but now?....Just not my cup of tea, especially compared to Randy or Jake.
I don't know. I've never followed Lamb of God, but I do know Zakk founded Black Label Society. |

Black Label Society was the one I was thinking of, I didn't like them either, I remember they were on a back of a guitar world (magazine) one of the first ones I ever bought, and same wiht Lamb Of God and I mixed up the pictures in my mind
Even His first two with Ozzy were lame, it is really easy to buy into the hype for it though because its Ozzy, but if you listen to say.... Blizzard of Ozz then No Rest For the Wicked, it just doesn't live up to the same ability, skill, or sound guitar wise, and that brought down the rest of the album too in my opinion |

Hmm....well to compare Randy Rhoads to ANYONE would undermine their talent, especially if we were to bust out the "Tribute" album. Then Randy would really whomp anyone he was put up against. But really if you were to take "No More Tears" that album really is Zakk at his best, most diverse, and deepest as a guitarist. It's not just "generic heavy riff" this and "raping harmonics" that. He actually incorporated some level of depth into his playing which was evident on tracks like "Time After Time", "Mama I'm Coming Home", and the title track. Though I really would like to believe that Lemmy and (to a much greater extent) Bob Daisley might've had something to do with that. After Bob and Ozzy stopped working together the quality of Ozzy's songwriting really went downhill because Zakk was then the lead songwriter.... =/ |

true about Rhoads lol, but I'll admit No More Tears as a whole is good, but I think because he was doing something new, the only thing is....the songs would not permit for those "generic heavy riffs" so I'd say what youre saying is true to an extent but I think things started to go downhill AT No More Tears... |
