Any 2000-2010 bands that sound like 80s Hard Rock?
The other thread about bands with a 60s/70s rock sound got me wondering about new bands that have the 80s rock sound? And not really the Top 40
stuff like Hall and Oats but more along the lines of Dokken, Extreme or Krokus.
It seems like the majority of that stuff is coming out of Sweden and Germany, these days but I'll take it. Frontiers Records seems to be carrying a lot of guys with that sound, and so it's showing up here in the United States. It's just that I'll go to sites like CD Baby and go through the 80s category and run across everything but what I'm looking for. I DID hear this one really great group in 2006 from Oklahoma named Megatron that's like Pat Benatar meets White Lion, but that was about it.
I'd be curious/interested in any podcasts, Internet radio stations or blogs that showcase these kinds of new bands, too.

An impressive array of bands there 70s guy ! its good to hear some quality rock music with an 80s revival sound to it . Even some of the videos looked convincing from that era.

Great bands b.o.b ! I never got into nu-metal where they have to shout like kids lol. These bands blow them to pieces !!
So bands like this need our encouragement. I know about WOLF They are brilliantly heavy i NEED their albums...love them to come to UK.
One of my faves HARDCORE SUPERSTAR from Sweden.......unfortunately my thread about them fell on deaf ears

Hey thanks to YOU guys for contributing to the thread. I have been desperate to find this kind of music. I wonder if there are any radio stations, Internet radio or podcasts featuring/showcasing these guys? I wish I had the time to run my own station, say, on Live365 but I've got my hands full with promoting my own band.

Wish I still had my old radio show playlists nearby, I left the business in 2007. I used to have a ton of cd's coming in from unknown bands with the 80's hard rock sound, I just don't remember a whole lot of names.
My suggestion would probably be to visit .::Perris Records::. as they tend to carry a lot of music from newer 80's rock groups. They not only carry stuff from other labels but they also have a medium sized roster of bands who record directly for Perris.
As for the bands who have been posted, I received most of their cd's at my old station. Can't say I was overly thrilled with Vains of Jenna (dull), Gemini Five (dull), Wig Wam (joke band), Steel Panther (joke band) or Crashdiet (derivative), none of whom left any lasting impression on me. Mostly forgettable, I thought. What do I know, though? I'm just one guy and different strokes for different folks. Maybe you'll like some of them a lot.
Of the ones posted so far, Johnny Lima is easily the best I've heard. He had two or three cd's that were solid, good stuff. Played him on the radio for three or four years. Definitely a good Bon Jovi style writer and singer.
Out of all of the newer 80's rock groups to come out in the 2000's, my favorites are:

That is a good heads up.
And by the way, I think I've learned more from reading a couple of your posts than I have dealing with supposed "insiders" that I've hired to help me promote my music. I gotta say, I think the single biggest piece of advice I would offer to anyone trying to do what I'm doing is to go out and talk to fellow music lovers because you're going to learn some great things.
I sincerely appreciate the input. Thank you!
