Good Band. I sometimes think Lee Dorrian's vocals let them down slightly. Ride and Hopkins (Witchfinder General) are great though.

Plus, I live just outside Coventry!!

Its years since Ive seen CATHEDRAL "live". It was in the 90s when we [ 13 CANDLES ] were on the same bill at the Dracfest Whitby Uk.
I really must see them again as they have progressed wonderfully over the years.
Sweaty is right "Matthew Hopkins - witchfinder general " is one of the most heaviest tracks of all time.....pure genius !!!

I've only ever heard 'Endtyme' (one of a collection of CDs that was later stolen ) but I loved it. When my mother got curious about my music and wanted to hear it properly to find out 'what was wrong with me', I chose this album as it was the, erm, gentlest metal album I owned at the time. My mother's face went purple, she began shaking violently, and she struggled to say 'What must the neighbours think, I hope they can't hear this' or words to that effect

I saw them supporting Cradle Of Filth a few years ago, and was quite surprised because they were a lot more aggressive live than on that album, with growling and screaming vocals if I remember rightly, and Lee Dorrian pretending to hang himself with the mic wire during 'Hopkins The Witchfinder' My mates and I saw him pacing up and down outside the venue afterwards, well, more like skulking in a rather sinister manner I wanted to talk to him, but I was too scared because of the way he was acting When I later mentioned this to my mate, all he said was 'Oh, I thought I recognised him from somewhere'

Pixel....that sounds a great gig !
Lord Grendel.....the CATHEDRAL song isnt the same as the Saxon song...just similar titles. The Saxon "witchfinder general" kicks serious ass aswell
As regards to the Dracfest gig in 1997 ....there were some big names playing that weekend Hawkwind,The Damned,Lene Lovich, etc We were sort of mid line up with the mighty CATHEDRAL coming on stage after our performance........mixed memories that day...as it turned out to be my final show with 13 CANDLES. [see picture ]
I will do a thread about the history of the band soon.........
Getting back to CATHEDRAL.......they do a great cover to Sabbaths "solitude"

...........I3 CANDLES "Live" Whitby 97......check out the dodgy singer lol
