Saw Roky Erickson and Okkervil River(they were his band) the other nite. I'm a fan of both Roky and Okkervil River but weren't sure how they would be together. When they opened with "Night of the Vampire" (old Roky song) it was quite obvious we were in for a great show. Okkervil River did a great job as Roky's band, jamming and Will was smiling just about the whole show.

I'm so glad that Roky is apparently doing much better (ie. with his schizophrenia)...the Roky I saw in the You're Gonna Miss Me documentary didn't look like he'd ever do much of anything for the rest of his life, other than sit in his living room with every radio and television in the house turned on. He is f'ig CLASSIC!!! "I've been working in the Kremlin with a two-headed dog"...what the hell is THAT!!! "It's a cold night for alligators"...good god, that's just so bizarre! I love that about him! And he delivers it with such conviction, like it makes perfect sense and that he means it from the bottom of his heart. Anyone not in a metal band who does a song called "I Think of Demons" is a-ok in my book!
Check out the interview at the start of this clip...he is NOT fooling. He MEANS this. he believes it! And that's why I love him!
