Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica (1969)

I got this album a few or so years ago as a birthday present and I listened to it from start to finish and I absolutely love it. The Dust Blows Forward 'n the Dust Blows Back, Pachuco Cadavers, Ella Guru, Moonlight On Vermont, Well are just some of my fave tracks. I love the chaotic madness and humour of Beefheart's lyrics/poems and the Magic Band's music. Definitely original and a great album to own for those who want something completely different.

Trout Mask Replica is one of the single most offensive albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. It's brilliant.

No one offends like Beefheart, he really makes your spine crawl. It's like watching ballet dancers at the edge of the apocalypse struggling to dance while snakes viciously snap at their genitals.

Top-notch album, really. FAST AND BULBOUS.

It took me awhile to get into TRM and I say that as a huge Beefheart fan to begin with. But I stuck with it and it finally made sense and it's now one of my favorite albums.

I hold TMR in very high regard, but my favorite Capt. Beefheart album is Doc at the Radar Station.
