| Re: Randy Rhoads VS Eddie Van Halen Aww LG you butthole.
What can I say though? Randy is my favorite guitar player. He used distortion but his playing is so clear that you can make out every single note he played, he could play just as fast if not faster than any of his peers yet still slow down and show his years of classical playing. I just all around love what little record work he has. |

Hardest poll EVER!!
I'm gonna have to go with Randy. Not because he's dead but based on the strength of those first two Ozzy records. |

Also the "Tribute" album. I really think that's where Randy's best work is. |

But, the point being, Randy Rhoads was in a band (Quiet Riot) with a record deal and had albums out, Eddie Van Halen didn't...if it was for Ozzy, Randy Rhoads may of never made it to legendary status.
Plus, I can't vote for Randy Rhoads on the strength of two Ozzy albums...
And this is coming from an original Randy Rhoads fanatic - I seen the first solo Ozzy tour (Blizzard of Ozz) and it was great...''Blizzard of Ozz'' was HUGE back then...it was the biggest thing going on in the rock word back then....
Meanwhile, Eddie Van Halen was already a guitar legend with Van Halen with 4 albums out already, by the time ''Blizzard of Ozz'' album hit.
Also, I had tickets to the ''Diary Of A Madman'' tour, when Randy Rhoads tragically died, so I would of gotten to seen him ''live'' twice. |

So to make it a fair comparison, why not compare Randy's major work (two albums) with Van Halen's first two albums.
IMO, Van Halen's only really good album would be their first, but I'm not a big fan.
So I vote for Randy |

That's one of the main reasons I picked Eddie Van Halen.

You never heard of Eddie Van Halen before, because he didn't have an album out, so you couldn't of heard him....when Randy Rhoads did - so you had a chance to hear him....that's the point I was making.
When Eddie Van Halen's first album came out - people noticed....when Rhandy Rhoades first album with Quiet Riot came out at the end of the 70's no one noticed...or very few noticed.

I'd still take Eddie Van Halen. |
