In terms of sheer musicianship,I go Quicksilver. However much as a marginal it is for me,in the final analysis, the Airplane spanned a slightly more diverse palate of sonic texture.......

I have to go with Jefferson Airplane/Starship.
Grace and Marty could sing some beautiful songs.
They did get a bit too political at times.
When Grace stayed sober all was well.
When she got drunk it got ugly:

I'd have to say Airplane wrote the better songs for sure. QMS did a lot of awesome instrumentation though.
Top 20 favorite artists: Neil Young, Tom Petty, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Pantera, Taylor Swift, Ke$ha, Bob Dylan, Ani DiFranco, Alice In Chains, Metallica, Paramore, Led Zeppelin, Burzum, Immortal Technique, Katy Perry, Neutral Milk Hotel, Eminem, Regina Spektor.
