Gosh, I honestly don't remember. Do you mean just learning to play part of a song, or a full song?

The first couple of songs I really learned are Neil Young songs. My My, Hey Hey, Thrasher and Needle And The Damage Done.

And then followed a string of Neil songs with some AC/DC and Rush thrown in there. But I basically learned to play guitar playing Neil songs.

*raids dusty old guitar case*

It seems that when I first started I played exclusively guitar riffs, and the first song I learnt was the first one I wrote by the name of 'Gotta Have Heart'

The first thing I ever learned on guitar was the bass riff to "Crazy Train" and the first full songs I learned were "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Detroit Rock City".

Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Bob Dylan version. First riff I learned was Misty Mountain Hop.
