SEPULTURA

Sepultura Official Website

Sepultura (Portuguese for "grave") is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte. They formed in 1984. They were a major force in death metal, thrash metal and groove metal during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their later experiments which melded hardcore punk, industrial music and extreme metal had a significant influence for the groove metal genre.

One of my favorite bands of all time. In my top 5 metal bands as well.
They were so brutal when they had Max and honestly I lost interest when he left.
If you have not heard at least one Sepultura well I suggest listening to them now.

I've heard of this band many times, and at least know that in Brazil they are as famous as Metallica is to us. Truly one of the pioneering metal bands.

You know my tastes Mud, give me the album with the most straight up Heavy Metal sound that I like.

I'm a huge fan of the early stuff with Max .
Morbid Visions (1986)
Schizophrenia (1987)
Beneath the Remains (1989)
Arise (1991)
Chaos A.D. (1993)
All monsters IMO especially the last three I listed . Roots is where they go off course as far as I am concerned. I like about half of it but the nu-metal influence definitely turns me off to it and the ones that followed.

Roots IMO was great. Just because it influenced Nu - Metal doesn't mean it isn't good.

Lots of great bands helped influence that shit haha.

I think after Roots they went downhill but I hear they are starting to get their magic back but as far as I am concerned Sepultura died when Max left.

Same here . But I don't like either Max Cavalera's work with Soulfly. Cavalera Conspiracy was better but there is still a long road if he wants to recapture the old Sepultura days feeling.

So true BOB. I really think that they began moving into the Soulfly direction with the Roots Cd though, myself. There are some decent songs on it but I don't think that it is a very good Sepultura album over all.

I checked out Soulfly a long time ago and it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth for some reason. Didn't like what I was hearing. I haven't heard any Cavalera Conspiracy.
