If any of you have problems finding a good copy of a Savatage album let me know, I can hook you up, just send me a PM. (This depends on your philosophy about sharing music of course.)
I've seen them on sites as low as $2.50 plus mail, I can get 3-4 and still pay less than $20, I'll go for the previous 2 we already mentioned.....thanks
Here's one of Bucky's favorite albums, "Gutter Ballet", released in 1989 and is a turning point for the band. The producer Paul O'Neill was heavily involved in all aspects of this record, and the band shifted from their earlier style to a more polished approach. Still the raw energy of their early years is still there, but added to it is a maturity and depth that showed the growth of the band in every aspect.
I like Savatage, excellent group. I think they were from Florida and know that the first LP they released is pretty collectible among the private label metal collectors. Hall of The Mountain King is my favorite tune by them, although Power of The Night and The Price You Pay ain't far behind. You have to love the intro to HOTMK. I saw them Live in Detroit about 15 years back. They were excellent and very tight. Didn't one of the original members, the original guitarist maybe, die?
Their cover of Badfinger's "Day After Day" is so un-Savatage-like. Hard to believe it's really them. Very similar to Def Leppard's version of "No Matter What".
Strange Wings, on the other hand, absolutely rocks! \ m /
