It all depends on who I'm bingeing on at the moment...lol

It's a tossup between Iron Maiden and Metallica. Iron Maiden had more albums, and I think their sound was a little more appealing than the thrashy guitars of Metallica. But then I hear albums like And Justice For All (a masterpiece, although flawed) and Master Of Puppets. I mean, on any given day those two albums will kick Maiden's a**. And yet there are times that I think Powerslave and Piece Of Mind kick Metallica's a** up and down all over the place. Flip a coin I guess. Both are great.

Just to successfully complete the objective, though, I'll say Judas Priest.

First you have to define what is heavy metal. That term is very subjective.

If you want to use statistics, then the top selling band would deserve the reign as best heavy metal band.

And who gets that Title...none other than AC/DC.

My personal choice for best heavy metal band would be either Iron Maiden or Judas Priest.

I'm not necesarily voting for my favourites but more for the attributes the band did have like lyrical context, musical composition, influences from the past to the present, albums sold, etc.
