Most of you likely know Jason Mraz from having the chart topping I'm Yours drilled into your head! I'm one of the large part of music listening society who doesn't care if they ever hear that song again myself. What is unfortunate though, is if that is your only experience with the Mraz man, then you might find yourself missing out. Jason has three solid albums out that runs the gambit between the musical styling of pop, folk, Jazz, Reggae, Latin, Bossa Nova, a vocal that's as smooth as any Neo-Soul singer and a way with words and rhythms that the Hip Hop community could envy. He had a good fan base since album one that also is built on a great live performance as well as studio work.
I own his three albums below:
Waiting For My Rocket To Come
Favorite Tracks:
You And I Both
(This is the single that madde me get into Mraz)
Curbside Prophet
(love this track, so fun and one of my favorites from him period)
Curbside Prophet (Live With john Popper on harmonica)

Favorite Tracks:
Did You Get My Message?
(Jazzy tune with the equally GREAT Rachael Yamagata)
Plane

We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things
Favorite Tracks:
The Dynamo of Volition

OMG!! That Mr. Curiosity tune is amazing!! Is that HIM singing the opera section??
If so...I'm like
Yep, it is! More male artist seem to be able or are willing to do this now as Damien Rice does this in a track or two. Here is Jason throwing out more Opera stylings:
Wow great stuff Soot..I liked the diversity in his music. He has a bohemian influences on him , as best I can tell from what I've heard. This is appealing to me because I have a pretty similar approach to music too. Everything ..all over the map lol..but it is refreshing in musicians..it keeps the interests
Now I really do want buy some of his stuff..lol
Thanks , all I knew was Kickin It With You til now ,which I liked alot ..

I am a big fan of Mr. A to Z's work. The first thing that I heard from him was "The Remedy"
Which was his first hit but it wasn't until the release of his second album that I REALLY got into his work, specifically from the song "Wordplay".
(Another song that I really liked from that album)
I'll have more to say a little bit later.
Oh wow I never realized he sang Remedy ?Cool

Yeah, that seems to be pretty common Astrid. A lot of teens that I know all think Jason came out of nowhere with "I'm Yours" and crap their pants over it but he's been around for a bit now and has had some success. I mean, "Mr. A-Z" was a top five album. That's not shabby at all.
I don't do this often but I think this is an appropriate plug! If you liked the vocalist in "Did You Get My Message?" you should check out my Rachael Yamagata thread as she is amazing!
Did You Get My Message?
(Jazzy tune with the equally GREAT Rachael Yamagata)
That's a good pick Sooty. There's a live version of "Did You Get My Message" from the "Selections for Friends..." album that I like a bit more than the original:
And another fave of mine is the close from the "Mr. A-Z" album, "Song For A Friend". I really like the guitar part and how it comes back for the big finale at the end.
