Default The Cat Empire

The Cat Empire are an Australian band with an often varied line up. They have 6 core members (including two lead singers) but often employ dozens more when playing live. They're one of those unique bands who are impossible to be pigeonholed into genres - They're a band you simply have to listen to. They have four albums, and they've recently announced they've started work on a fifth, to be released sometime next year.

Without further ado, some select songs from their latest album So Many Nights:

I think it's brilliant music, and they're my 15th highest played band. (according to last.fm) But what are your opinions?

Silly, I'd put it in the Off Topic Lounge if that were the case

But speaking of cats, their official logo is quite cool:

Aunt Matilda was always give to overstatement when it came to fashion. She still cooks up the best catnip brownies though!

I'm bored so I'm going to contribute some early work, These two are from the 2005 album Two Shoes:

(My second favourite from them)

And these two from their 2003 self-titled debut:

Enjoy!

Two Shoes would be the album to look for, the title song was featured in an American TV show, which is probably more international exposure than any of the others

If it helps, the covers for their albums look like this:

And if all else fails, they're on Amazon.com

Sal,

I did listen to the videos you posted. This band is extremely mellow with an eclectic approach. They do incorporate a lot of reggae and jazz into their music, which is a big plus for them. I can see why you listen to them so much, they are a very soothing band.

No worries LG, good to hear you like them! And thanks Magic I personally get more of a good energy feel than a soothing one from them, although Felix's voice is very, very smooth indeed

Massive news! The Cat Empire have confirmed the release date of their new album, 25th June 2010! It's named Cinema, and the leading single is already out, called "Beyond All"

Also, they'll be touring in support of the album all around Australia and probably the rest of the world! For Australian shows they're offering a mega package deal (which I'll be buying) limited to 20 people per show that provides a signed copy of the album, signed photo of the band, various other merchandise and most importantly of all, a guest appearance at their pre-show soundcheck! Good times in the future for sure!
