|  Hi all
I'm Pixel, a friend of another newcomer here, Iggy; he told me about this place and I thought it sounded cool, so decided I'd join up too 
I am first and foremost an extreme metal fan, but have always liked classic rock. But unfortunately, my knowledge is pretty limited, and I know very little beyond the more commercial stuff  However, Iggy has started introducing me to some new (to me, anyway) bands, and I am also getting him into some extreme metal bands, which is a good trade, I think
Well, I'm going to go off now and have a look around the forum, and am looking forward to getting to know you all a little better. Bye for now! xxx |

Welcome to Classic Rock Forums!
There is nothing wrong with being an extreme metal fan. You do realize that metal has it's roots in the Classic rock era, and that is a good place to begin learning how metal evolved

Gamma Ray is simply heavy metal with double pedal and Power metal themes in their albums...similar to many bands in the new age. If you added double pedal to your newest band "Halloween" they are not much different than my beloved GR.  | |

Well, most of the stuff I own at the moment is what some people consider 'watered down', bands like Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted, Lacuna Coil, Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, that sort of thing. But I also like Carpathian Forest, Nattefrost, Bolt Thrower, Zeenon, Shadow, Drudkh and Windir among others. I'm still relatively new to the really extreme stuff, but am eager to discover many more such bands yet | |
