| Re: World Cup 2010 Official Thread I am disappointed myself,,,I did not like the way Holland played this match. DeJong should have been sent off for his flying karate kick in Alonso's chest in the first half, although they ended up losing a man later in extra time, they were really never in this match. I also am not impressed with the lack of class after the final whistle. They deserved to lose this game, I can handle an intense competition, but they played dirty football today.
Credit to Spain, they have the best ball control/passing/moving forward of any team I have seen in a long long time.
At least a new champion was crowned...and I hope I never ever hear another vuvuzela again as long as I live...
Well done South Africa, you pulled off the World Cup without any serious problems, my only complaint would be I felt the matches themselves were not as exciting on average as recent tournaments.
Brazil 2014...my prediction, Germany vs Brazil in the final...and yeah the Sambas get revenge for losing early in this years WC. |

I have to agree, and as much as I like the team and respect the Dutch this was a bad display. I was gutted cos I know they are better .. but in the end the team that turned up to play football won.
Holland still remain the best team never to win and that's the sad part.

Well guess what? I had a weekend that was even worse. The teams I wanted to win lost everyone of the six most meaningful games for me over the weekend. Uruguay lost, the Netherlands lost, The Lithuanian team lost the semi-final in the World Under 17 Basketball Championship, the Lithuanian team lost a preliminary round game in the European Under 20 Basketball Championship to drop to 2-1, and both the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers football teams lost. If I wasn't so beaten down I would have rioted. |

I think the coach carries a Huge part of the blame for this...instead of having confidence in his team, marking Villa and Xavi closely and stressing the counterattack they decided to "Mug" Spain instead. Not only did that fail in execution, but you are also telling your own team basically you don't think they can win the game. Anyone that can run and compete with Brazil, should have confidence against any opponent.
I wonder if they will keep him around for another four years... |

A buddy of mine of Dutch ancestry was very much this disappointed as well when I spoke with him this morning. He commented that at least when the Dutch had lost previously, they looked good doing it. But this time they didn't just lose but they looked ugly losing. |
